ENVIRONMENT:
A forward-thinking Digital Solutions Provider is on the hunt for a talented Network Engineer to join their Johannesburg team. This isn’t just about keeping the lights on—it’s about building next-gen network infrastructure that drives innovation and empowers customers. You’ll design, implement, and maintain cutting-edge systems that support growth and reliability, bringing your 5+ years of network engineering experience (including 2 in a specialist role) and a solid foundation in IT or Computer Science to a team that’s shaping the future of digital connectivity.
DUTIES:
- Network Design and Implementation: Design and deploy robust networking solutions that meet the business’s scalability, performance, and security requirements.
- Maintenance and Optimization: Regularly assess network performance, troubleshoot complex network issues, and ensure continuous network availability.
- Security Management: Implement and manage network security tools and protocols, such as firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
- Project Management: Lead network-related projects from conception through to completion, including planning, execution, and resource allocation.
- Capacity Planning: Analyze and predict network growth trends to ensure infrastructure scalability and performance.
- Mentorship and Leadership: Mentor junior network engineers, promoting a culture of continuous learning and development within the team.
- Vendor Management: Negotiate with vendors to procure network hardware and software solutions that align with business objectives
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintain comprehensive documentation for network architectures, configurations, processes, and compliance records
REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications Experience
- 3 years Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in network engineering with at least 2 years in a specialist role.
Certifications and Licenses
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
- Managing and supporting a Multi-Pod ACI Fabric (two interconnected Data Centres)
- ACI design and configuration
- APIC Controller management (a cluster of 3 controllers)
- Support and Maintenance of over ACI devices (includes Spine switches, Leaf Switches)
- Sever migration to ACI major projects for new customer requirements
- ACI firmware upgrades
- Ability to automate using tools
- VxLAN deployment and troubleshooting
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Juniper Networks Certified Enterprise Routing and Switching Expert (JNCIE-ENT)
- Cisco Certified Design Expert (CCDE)
- Juniper Networks Certified Design Associate (JNCDA)
- VMware Certified Advanced Professional — Network Virtualization Design (VCAP-NV Design)
- Cisco Certified Network Professional Wireless (CCNP Wireless)
- HPE Aruba Certified Design Professional (ACDP)
- HPE Aruba Certified Design Expert (ACDX)
- Aruba Certified Mobility Expert (ACMX)
