Senior Accountant

ENVIRONMENT:
THE numerical expertise of a Senior Accountant is sought by a Global Brand to maintain the high quality of the financial control environment. You will be expected to look at ways to ensure continuous improvement by evaluating processes and driving efficiencies – serving as a key driver to implement new finance applications and other automatization projects. The ideal candidate must be CA(SA) qualified or similar or be studying towards a Chartered Accountancy qualification or similar. You will need 2+ years’ suitable financial work experience – preferably in a FMCG environment, Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel and experience with Exchange Control, VAT & have worked with an ERP system – SAP preferred (Fl, SD and MM module).
 
DUTIES:
Financial Accounting –
  • Work with the Chief Accountant to ensure accounts are maintained in accordance with statutory and tax regulations and internal company policy.
  • Ensure general accounting and accounts payable processes deliverables are met.
  • Assist in the calculation and processing of general and monthly journals to the general ledger.
  • Assist in maintaining and monitoring company indirect (overhead) expenses by department.
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset and Tax Asset Register in line with accounting standards and company policy.
 
Management Accounting and Controlling –
  • Coordinate the monthly and yearly closing and reporting cycles.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations – including the collation of a monthly reference file.
  • Coordinate the monthly and yearly closing and reporting cycles.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly commentary for month-end closing.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual business planning and periodic forecasting as required.
 
Treasury –
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly cash flow forecasting and reporting (TM5).
  • Contribute to the monitoring of cash level within group guidelines.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly and weekly cash reporting as required.
 
Compliance –
  • Assist in the annual and interim audit processes.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual financial statements.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual income tax return.
  • Assist in completion and submission of VAT returns.
 
Payments –
  • Review and load all payments (vendors, business claims, salaries, EMP201, VAT etc.).
  • Process of bank statement daily and monthly ensure clearance of clearing accounts and reconciling of accounts at month end.
  • Provide Debtors Department with a daily update on payments received from customers.
 
REQUIREMENTS:
  • CA(SA) or similar / Studying towards CA(SA) or similar.
  • 2+ Years relevant financial experience, preferably in a FMCG environment.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel.
  • Exchange Control, VAT.
  • Experience working with an ERP system – SAP preferred (Fl, SD and MM module).
  • Fluent English needed.
 
Advantageous –
  • Project Management experience.
