ENVIRONMENT:
YOUR expertise in solution selling, enterprise sales, and building consultative sales strategies is sought to fill the role of a Sales & Business Manager wanted by a well-established Bespoke Software Development business. This is a leadership role for a strategic sales professional with a track record in SaaS, custom software, or digital solutions. You’ll take ownership of the unit—redefining strategy, driving commercial execution, building a high-performance Sales team, and unlocking new revenue streams. The successful incumbent must have a suitable Degree or Diploma with 5+ years in Sales and/or general management roles within SaaS, custom software, digital transformation, or B2B technology sectors. You also require demonstrated success and experience in scaling a business, strong commercial acumen with direct experience managing budgets, revenue targets, and teams and a solid understanding of South African public and private sector sales cycles. This is not a business-as-usual role; it’s a rare opportunity to shape a scalable business and make your mark.
 
DUTIES:
Commercial Leadership (20% of role focus) –
  • Define and execute a winning go-to-market strategy, aligning bespoke software solutions with industry pain points.
  • Partially own the P&L of the business unit with responsibility for revenue growth, cost control, and profitability.
  • Partially create and grow the sales and business development teams, ensuring high-performance culture and accountability.
 
Strategic Sales Management (30% of role focus) –
  • Rebuild and implement a high-impact sales strategy (B2B, channel, and strategic accounts).
  • Identify and penetrate new verticals including finance, healthcare, manufacturing, and e-commerce.
  • Establish scalable sales processes, CRM discipline, forecasting, and performance metrics. Also ensure disciplined adherence to these processes.
 
Business Growth and Development (40% of role focus) –
  • Review the current software and solution offering and identify adjacent opportunities and potential partnerships.
  • Engage and nurture strategic customer relationships, acting as a trusted advisor to decision-makers.
  • Work closely with Development and Technology teams to influence product roadmap based on market insights.
 
Market Positioning & Thought Leadership (10% of role focus) –
  • Elevate the company’s market presence and thought leadership in the Bespoke Software Development, digital transformation, and custom tech solutions space.
  • Represent the company at industry events, panels, and client briefings.
 
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Relevant Degree or Diploma.
  • 5+ Years in Sales and/or general management roles within SaaS, custom software, digital transformation, or B2B technology sectors.
  • Individual needs to have experience in building a software/solution business.
  • Demonstrated success and experience in scaling a business.
  • Strong commercial acumen with direct experience managing budgets, revenue targets, and teams.
  • Expertise in solution selling, enterprise sales, and building consultative sales strategies.
  • Understanding of South African public and private sector sales cycles.
