Project Engineer (Temp) (Eastern Cape)

ENVIRONMENT:
A suitably qualified and experience Project Engineer is sought to fill a Temporary position at the Eastern Cape Division of a Supplier of innovative customized products. You will plan, design, develop and introduce the provision, modification and maintenance of material handling facilities, transport, packaging, processes and systems for the optimal material flow from source to point of use to support Production, P&A and Localisation and Export projects in achieving their scheduled targets. You will also be expected to analyse, maintain and control the various Logistics Planning Contracts by liaison with the necessary departments and external contractors in order to reduce costs and improve methods of control on an ongoing basis.
DUTIES:
- Plan and prepare detailed logistics material flow concepts in production and warehouse environments for optimum solutions.
- Prepare detailed layouts, drawings and job specifications for specialized facilities or logistics services based on latest technological solutions.
- Conceive, design and procure logistics facilities, i.e. stillages, pallets, dunnage, trolleys, racking, general storage facilities and packaging based on analysis and interpretation of requirements for new projects, production requests or other valid customer requirements and corporate objectives.
- Define detailed project plans for coordinating and monitoring projects.
- Prepare Enquiry Requests to obtain quotations from suppliers based on clear specifications.
- Evaluate adjudicated quotations then negotiating with suppliers if required to improve/optimize specification and/or costs.
- Prepare appropriation requests to justify capital expenditure.
- Prepare and issue purchase requisitions.
- Arrange for project/facility/service acceptance and hand-over by conducting demonstrations of equipment or facilities (e.g. through physical trials).
- Preparation of budget prices to be used for corporate investment programs, cost studies, localization and export projects.
- Develop and introduce packaging specifications.
- Draft and update Logistics Material Handling Contract specifications after consultation with all stakeholders.
- Convene and chair meetings as required with any/all roles.
REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications –
- Degree or National Diploma in fields of either Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Logistics.
Experience/Skills –
- At least 1 years’ experiential training that was done within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with producing, understanding and interpreting 3D CAD drawings.
- Full computer literacy in suite of Microsoft packages, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint and Word. Advanced Excel skills required.
Advantageous –
- Experience with SAP systems in Supply Chain Management.
- Experience in Automotive manufacturing environment.
- German language proficiency.
