Assume responsibility for the achievement of Sprint objectives (i.e., the delivery of high quality, working product to business in terms of the Scrum process and meeting the team’s definition of done).
Contribute and participate in all aspects of the SDLC within a mature Scrum environment and process: this will include not only development but planning, estimating, reviews and retrospectives.
Contribute to the continual improvement of the existing code base through a disciplined process of refactoring where required to eliminate technical debt.
Create and maintain sufficient quality documentation of systems in line with agreed standards.
Prioritise production support wherever necessary to protect, enhance and enable ongoing business operations.
Assist in the deployment of changes to production environments.
Work closely with the Team Lead: Support to ensure bugs and potential performance issues are being addressed.
Manage the software development process within the team (coding standards, build processes, automation, etc.).

Lead and guide the IT Development team with technical decisions.
Assist with recruiting resources for the IT Development team in conjunction with Head: IT.
Develop the individuals within the IT Development team in making a valuable contribution to the IT team as a whole.
Encourage a culture of accountability within the IT Development team.
Assist with performance management where required.
Encourage the IT Dev team to be self-organised and self-managed.
Encourage collaboration between IT Development team and the rest of both the IT Team as well as promote team values with the organisation as a whole.
Conduct performance evaluations, check-in sessions, career discussions and follow up on personal development goals.
Appropriate Degree such as B.Comm: Information Science, Engineering.
At least 10 years’ experience working as a Developer in a corporate environment.
Architectural knowledge for the building of flexible, scalable systems.
Thorough understanding of Agile and scrum processes.
Thorough understanding of TDD and BDD.
Thorough experience in database design, performance and troubleshooting.
Experience in a wide array of modern technologies.
Automated testing and deployment.
Leading a development team from a technical perspective.
Ability to demonstrate a willingness to listen to and consider other opinions from the rest of the development team.
Working within Agile methodology.
Data warehouse (SSIS & SSRS) and BI technologies.
Ability to consider the “big picture” as well as the immediate requirement.
Team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.
