A provider of world-class financial products in Joburg seeks the expertise of a forward-thinking Senior Data Analyst to join its team. Your core role will entail Data Source Identification & Testing, Data Insight Development and Project Management. You will require a BComm in Risk Management/Economics/Statistics or BSC in Computer Science or tertiary Data Science qualification, at least 8 years relevant experience, proven experience and success working on a data or technology project within an organisation, QlikView or similar data tools and Insurance or Banking knowledge.
Data Source Identification and Testing –
Identify and integrate new sources of data that either currently exist in processes or are available from third-party service providers. Including the necessary business case design, sourcing, analysis, and testing.
Data Insight Development –
Leadership and management of the Divisions advanced analytics and data science environment.
Management of service providers as applicable.
Project Management –
Divide large projects into achievable pieces.
Follow up, manage and track progress on various projects with stakeholders, external third parties and team.
Interpret data and technology conversations into language that the business will understand and vice versa.
Communicate requirements and needs both to colleagues and external business partners.
Build relationships with different stakeholders.
Business Case Scoping –
Identify and document areas where and how data and technology initiatives can solve business problems.
Put together a case for how a data science / analytics project will positively affect the operations of the division, across all aspects of the insurance value chain.
Process Efficiency –
Identify areas in a process where improvements can be made.
Implement new data into the processes of the division’s operations.
BComm in Risk Management/Economics/Statistics (looking for a career working with data and technology). OR BSC in Computer Science (looking to learn more around the operations of the business). OR Data Science qualification and experience.
Minimum of 8 years work experience.
Proven experience and success working on a data or technology project within an organisation.
Existing knowledge of QlikView or proven ability of making use of a similar tool to access data warehouse information.
Insurance or Banking knowledge with the ability or an aptitude to understand underwriting and financial results.
Direct Data Science experience is valuable.
Demonstrable interest in the use of Artificial Intelligence.
