Strategic Leadership –
Work with internal stakeholders and external industry experts to define tactical and strategic short, medium- and long-term plans to optimise the technical capabilities of the organisation in line with their business needs and business / cashflow constraints.
De-risk the organisation’s technical exposure and initiate business continuity and disaster recovery plans as needed based on the risk appetite of the organisation.
Act as a technical advisor to the board so that they have an accurate view of the internal and external technological landscape for current and future business sustainability and growth.
Remain up to date with the rapidly changing technological landscape.
Monitor management of all hardware, software, databases and licenses, maintenance, and projections of future needs.
Lead technology team in day-to-day operations, provide key expertise, supervise support teams, and set performance goals.
Stakeholder Management –
Continuously engage with stakeholders across the business to better understand their processes and business challenges.
Craft and propose solutions to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of their businesses by leveraging technology.
Vendor Management –
Effectively co-ordinate and manage vendors to generate maximum value for the organisation within budget constraints.
Build strong, long term relationships with vendors.
Balance concentration risk with technological agility and advancement.
Technical Tasks –
Where necessary, run whatever technical tasks need to be run to achieve the goals above where it is not feasible to use vendors or own staff, this could include tasks across the IT spectrum.
Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Operational Research, Business Management, Financial Management or Engineering.
Post-graduate Degree or a Doctorate beneficial but not essential.
At least 10 years’ experience at a highly technical level.
Experience working in Credit and/or Furniture Retail and/or Logistics.
A strong industry knowledge of Credit and/or Financial Services.
Experience with quality assurance, or software testing environment.
Extensive Project Management skills and experience.
Working knowledge of MySQL.
Solid experience in BI and Reporting Tools.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in English, proficiency in Afrikaans an advantage.

High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Drive to automate repetitive tasks (i.e. low tolerance for repetitive activities and desire to automate).
