Fintech company based in JHB REQUIRES A Head of BI To offer the business with business intelligence information, quality reporting, and sound data analysis on request from BI Systems. To add value to business by turning data into useful information and knowledge that can be used to make sound business decisions. Grade 12 Certificate, relevant Qualification in Science & Information Systems (Diploma in Computer Science), 7yrs+ BI or related technical experience and Knowledge of the industry and multiple business functional areas are required.



  • BI Department
  • Ensure that your department is always fully staffed and running efficiently by following the correct internal processes.
  • Ensure to provide your department with comprehensive subject matter expertise for key BI core functions.
  • Reporting
  • Ensure to generate standard or custom reports summarising business, financial, or economic data for review by executives, managers, clients, and other stakeholders on request.
  • Ensure to manage the timely flow of business intelligence information to users by their required deadlines.
  • Ensure to distribute information regarding tools, reports, or metadata enhancements to business on request a by the agreed time.
  • Ensure to manage the SSRS reporting tool by ensuring that reports are scheduled, distribution lists are identified, and the format for the reports are as per request
  • Administration
  • Ensure to make use of data warehousing practices which are centred around providing information around complex business questions.
  • Ensure to liaise and cooperate with 3rd party/outsourced service providers when the need arises.
  • Ensure to maintain or update business intelligence tools, databases, dashboards, systems, or methods by the agreed deadlines.
  • Identify, create and maintain an electronic library (e.g. SharePoint) of model documents, templates, or other reusable knowledge assets.
  • Ensure to be able to provide your manager with reasonable evidence of reports, important communication etc. when required.
  • Business Requirements & Analysis
  • Ensure to create business intelligence tools or systems, including the design of the related database, spreadsheets, or outputs.
  • Ensure to Identify and provide input to new technology opportunities that will have an impact on the enterprise-wide BI systems.
  • Ensure to advise executives on how BI (processes, practices and technologies) play a critical role in improving business management and optimisation.
  • Provide insights and strategies that will enable management and executives to better understand behaviours and the factors that drive them.
  • Ensure to design company-wide “views” and custom reports relating to BI Systems.
  • Ensure to perform analysis for a wide range of requests using data in different formats and from various platforms.
  • Ensure to develop best practices for report deployments.
  • Information Quality Assurance
  • Liaise with HR and ensure to design and implement a Quality Matrix/Survey to be completed by users.
  • Ensure to send a Quality Matrix/Survey to all users after the submission of a BI Related tasks (e.g. reports) to rate you on your service delivery.
  • Ensure to recommend quality metrics and ensure quality metrics are documented and tracked weekly.
  • Research/Evaluation
  • Ensure to research and implement best practices for BI.
  • Align BI technologies with strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure to stay abreast and advise management of BI products/tools and business strategies and direction.
  • Communicate with customers, competitors, suppliers, or others to stay abreast of industry or business trends
  • Policies, Standards and Procedures
  • Assist in the drafting of BI Policies and Procedures when required.
  • Ensure to adhere to current BI and general standards, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure to recommend standards, policies and procedures for the form, structure, and attributes of the BI tools and systems.
  • Training
  • Ensure to train users, including executives, to transform data into action-oriented information and to use that information correctly and provide management with evidence when required.
  • Coaching/ Mentoring
  • Ensure to provide guidance, training, and problem-solving assistance to other team members.
  • Assist with coaching less-experienced individuals.
  • Communication
  • Ensure to communicate any delays to business on request for data/information.
  • Ensure to always keep business up to date on the status of all requests.
  • Ad-hoc Requests
  • Adhere to all reasonable and lawful requests for any member of management.




  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Relevant Qualification in Science & Information Systems (Diploma in Computer Science)
  • Requires 7 or more year of BI or related technical experience.
