A forward-thinking & solutions-driven Data Platform who enjoys solving complex problems is sought by a dynamic Financial Services Group to join the division of its Data Office. You will be expected to formulate & executive the Data Platform strategy and roadmap while managing the administration and technical performance team responsible for the design, build and implementation of the Data Platform. The ideal candidate requires a suitable 3-year tertiary or NQF aligned qualification, up to 8 years’ IT experience with at least 5 years in a Data Platform related technical role & 3 years in a Data Platform management role. You must also have a proven track record delivering & implementing innovative Data & Analytics technical solutions leading to clear business benefits. You also need extensive knowledge of Software Engineering and Development processes & Data Management best practice, specifically in the context of integrated, modern data platforms.
Data Platform strategy and roadmap –
Provide input into the Data Strategy on Data Platform architecture and technology topics.
Responsible for executing on the Data Strategy technical roadmaps.
Remain current with industry trends and thought leadership on modern data platforms and Data & Analytics technologies.
Data Platform maintenance –
Ensure the integrity, consistency, stability, sustainability, scalability and resilience of the Data Platform features and functions, both on premise and in the cloud.
Establish the data operations (DataOps) competency, supporting the Analytics community with data flow automation.
Manage the Data Management backlog of defects, gaps and design features (as well as technical debt items).
Data Platform technical delivery –
Deliver data architecture and technical solutions to business initiatives in accordance with the Data Strategy technical roadmap.
Resource planning for and delivery on technical projects and innovation initiatives.
Delivery on innovative Data & Analytics solutions through the practical application of latest industry trends – evaluate, prototype and proof of concept of new architecture methods, tools and products that may prove beneficial to the efficiency of the Data Office and business users.
Team Management –
Manage a team of Data Platform Architects, Administrators, Data Architects, ETL Developers, Data Engineers and Front End Developers.
Foster and grow a strong Data Platform & Architecture guild, with a focus on developing the technical expertise and skills of team members.
Lead, develop and mentor team members.
Relationship building & collaboration –
Establish effective and collaborative partnerships with Enterprise Architecture and other relevant IT teams.
Relevant 3-year tertiary or NQF aligned qualification.
Up to 8 years’ experience in IT, with a minimum of 5 years in a Data Platform related technical role and a minimum of 3 years in a Data Platform management role.
Proven track record of delivering Data & Analytics technical solutions.
Proven track record of implementing innovative Data & Analytics solutions leading to clear business benefits.
In depth knowledge and proven applications of Data Management best practice, specifically in the context of integrated, modern data platforms.
Extensive knowledge of Software Engineering and Development processes.
Strong people leadership and mentoring ability.
