A tenacious and solutions-driven Business Analyst is sought by a renowned investment firm to join its Joburg team. Your core role will be to analyse and solve business problems using technology, designing technical integration solutions, engaging with business stakeholders to ensure the effective execution of requirements & taking charge of UAT. You must possess a tertiary qualification in Information Systems/Software Development/Systems/Data Analysis or other relevant field, 3 years’ in a similar role with 2 years in Financial Services, understand APIs and Web Services and strong SQL.



Analyse and solve business problems using technology –

Gather requirements for the team and help formulate MVP in collaboration with business and the Product Owner.

Identify and prioritise the key items of work in collaboration with the Product Owner.

Analyse specific business problems and determine solutions.

Analyse integration and system requirements.

Understand impact and dependencies on other IT teams/systems.

Get buy-in from and communicate with stakeholders.

Formulate required specs, diagrams and documentation for business and technical integration requirements.

Work with the developers to ensure the understanding of the business and technical integration requirements.

Work with testers and business to ensure that test coverage is complete.

Manage implementation where applicable.

Facilitate and run grooming sessions.

Create test cases.

Be the go-to for information on requirements and implementation on the floor.

Provide 2nd line production support or create ad-hoc data exports where needed post project go-live for business if needed.

Work with business stakeholders to provide any support for change management needed as a result of functionality release by the team.


Take responsibility for certain problems and the implementation of solutions –

Lead the thinking and direction for certain business problems.

Work with and liaise with other IT teams to ensure that solutions are robust from an end-to-end integration perspective.

Coordinate people involved with this problem or area if applicable.


Broader role within the area –

Support the overall wellbeing of our IT systems and help translate the knowledge gained by our team to knowledge that can be shared amounts the floor –

Improve team process

Drive quality

Drive knowledge share

Be the liaison between business and IT.

Help with UAT – creating test cases, facilitation, and managing and analysing change requests.



Qualifications –

Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Information Systems, Software Development, Systems/Data Analysis, BComm, B Bus Science) with strong academic performance advantageous.


Experience/Skills –

At least 3 years’ experience that demonstrates your ability to function well in a detailed environment with particular concern for technical ability, accuracy and quality.

2 Years’ experience in Financial Services sector required.

Strong technical ability with SQL and database design knowledge.

Understand APIs and Web Services.


Advantageous –

Experience with enhancing or creating complex integrating systems.

Understand and have experience in Scrum methodologies.

UML or other diagramming techniques (Sequence/Process/Context etc) and business analysis frameworks and methodologies.



Keen interest in technology, data, databases and integration.

Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Conceptual thinker and critical analytical skills.

Strong ability to handle complexity.

Planning, organisational and time management skills.
