ENVIRONMENT:
A forward-thinking Business & Employment Solutions provider in Joburg focused on youth empowerment seeks a strong strategic Tech Stream Lead to provide sound technical leadership in all aspects of its business. You will communicate with employees, stakeholders and internal customers to ensure the company’s technologies are used appropriately while being responsible for the daily management and running of application systems and assisting in troubleshooting and solutions definition to maintain, change or enhance existing systems. You must have strong technology skills with Business Analysis capabilities with proven experience as a Tech Stream Lead or similar leadership role, knowledge of technological trends to build strategy, have an understanding of budgets and business-planning & the ability to conduct technological analyses and research.
 
DUTIES:
  • Ensure that the interface of all tech functions with various areas of the business works efficiently.
  • Build processes to ensure this happens timeously and comprehensively addresses their needs.
  • Use stakeholders’ feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to technology.
  • Act as interface between the team and tech platforms and suppliers and tech platform delivery.
  • Develop technical aspects of systems delivery to ensure alignment with its business goals.
  • Team recruitment, management & mentoring.
  • Maintain business operations according to defined SLA and deliver services according to expected needs.
  • Develop new technologies that yield business needs.
  • Help departments use technology effectively.
  • Monitor team KPIs and IT budgets to assess team performance.
  • System Integration Testing.
  • Document Test Cases.
  • Co-ordinate testing on complex projects/functionality.
  • Manage key technology deliverables and stakeholder relationships, acting as a Technology Partner.
  • Engage external service providers and build sustainable relationships to identify mutually beneficial service solutions that will deliver positive outcomes for the business.
  • Maintain business operations according to defined SLA and deliver services according to expected needs.
  • Drive digital transformation and new product development.
  • Drive programmes of continuous improvement.
  • Standardise processes across the Programme/Project including subsidiary and associated companies.
  • Work closely with the Scrum Master in managing and executing the project delivery Agile process with internal and external teams.
  • Troubleshoot/Debug production issues.
  • Resolve client enquiries, maintaining ownership throughout resolution.
  • Communicate the solution to be delivered with relevant stakeholders and keep them updated on progress.
 
Business Analyses aspects of the role –
  • Validate needs and problems and assist in brainstorming solutions.
  • Review BRDs.
  • Facilitate JAD sessions.
  • Facilitate UAT.
  • DevOps process definition, measurement process refinement.
  • Work closely with the Scrum Master to:
    • Prep for ceremonies.
    • Obstacle removal.
    • Removing or resolving impediments.
    • Reducing unplanned work.
    • Facilitating testing and signoff from the feature requestor.
    • Including testing as part of the delivery cycle.
    • Release Planning.
    • DevOps Analytics + Process Definition.
    • Stabilisation of the team cadence.
    • Provide project assistance where necessary.
  • Understand the technology functional requirements to adequately map out the technology build in line with Business requirements.
  • Align the IT initiatives of the company with their business processes.
  • Liaise with senior business executives to support design of an operating model that integrates business processes and organisation with technical solutions.
  • Supervise the activities of Business Analyst/s and Technical team members to ensure they are in line with required delivery standards and criteria.
 
In support of above roles, you will:
  • Advise and assess the impact of IT projects on Service Delivery to external and internal clients.
  • Ensure all projects adhere to a strict change control process to minimise any adverse effects to the working environment and its end users.
  • Ensure strict release and change processes are followed by Development and Support teams throughout the development and implementation life cycle.
  • Be accountable for ensuring that resources are efficiently utilised by integrating and prioritising development and maintenance environments and usage requirements into schedules of change for all shared environments aligned to an agreed release cycle.
  • Build the IT Release Calendar and work closely with other roles within IT/Development from different portfolios across IT and the organisation and create a common centralized view of all releases.
  • Assist the Program/Project Manager and the Development team members in planning each release.
  • With the Program/Project Manager, manage risks and issues that may affect release scope and schedule.
  • Lead and co-ordinate the go-live activities including the execution of the deployment plans and checklists.
  • Liaise with members of the CIO Panel to develop themes for presentation and support by such panel.
  • Lead the engagement processes before, during and after the panel’s sitting to ensure maximum benefit derived from the CIO panel for the organisation.

Advantageous –
  • BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field; MBA or another relevant Graduate Degree is a plus.
  • Knowledge of BMS Systems and Monitoring and Evaluation tools.
  • Knowledge of MS Suite knowledge of standard operating procedure model e.g., TOGAF. 
  • Some exposure or demonstrable understanding of youth employment, entrepreneurship, enterprise development and/or the SMME industry.
