Senior Structural Engineer

ENVIRONMENT:
YOUR accuracy, drive for standardisation and eye for detail as a Senior Structural Engineer is sought by a dynamic Management-owned Engineering Firm with a footprint on the African continent and the Middle East. Joining the Built Environment Unit, you will assist the team virtually design and construct a wide range of projects and co-create an engineered impact for clients. You will also conduct quality control on deliverables including modelling works, data/parameter management and develop scripts and add-ins to automate repetitive design aspects and/or check various design compliance using Dynamo & Python. You must possess a BSc/MSc or BEng/MEng in Structural Engineering, be professionally registered (Pr.Eng or similar), have 5 years suitable work experience within a consulting engineering business operating within the commercial Built environment. You will also need a strong background in the lateral design of structures using software such as Etabs, Strand7 or similar, have managed design teams, to complete tasks and produce high quality deliverables such as drawings, reports and calculations on time with international project experience (outside Africa beneficial).
 
DUTIES:
  • Provide leadership to Junior Engineers and Modellers.
  • Manage, provide technical advice, and liaise with relevant professional staff across multiple international locations.
  • Ensure full responsibility and accountability for all related design aspects, from conceptional to final design.
  • Co-ordinate with other disciplines on a project.
  • Quality control on deliverables (incl. modelling works, data/parameter management).
  • Maintain project records in accordance with internal quality system.
  • Challenge the team to remain ahead of the technology curve, regarding technological trends, as well as design execution.
  • Develop scripts and add-ins to automate repetitive design aspects and/or to check various design compliance aspects (using e.g., Dynamo, Python).
 
REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications –
  • BSc/MSc or BEng/MEng in Structural Engineering.
  • Professionally Registered (Pr.Eng or similar).
 
Experience/Skills –
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience within a consulting engineering business operating within the commercial Built environment.
  • A strong background in the lateral design of structures using software such as Etabs, Strand7 or similar.
  • Experience with managing design teams, to complete tasks and produce high quality deliverables such as drawings, reports and calculations on time.
  • International project experience (outside Africa beneficial).
