Sales Consultant (Cape Town)

ENVIRONMENT:
Since the early 2000’s, our client has been a leader in South Africa’s wound care industry, providing exceptional service and support through a dedicated and well-trained national sales team. Their R&D team creates high-quality, advanced wound care products, primarily produced locally.  They are currently seeking a Sales Consultant for their Cape Town office to drive sales and expand the market share of their wound care products in the Western Cape. Responsibilities include establishing new business, maintaining client relationships, and achieving sales targets. The ideal candidate will be proactive in their sales approach, effectively learn and communicate product knowledge, and engage with healthcare professionals. Candidates should possess a Degree in Sciences or a related field. While sales experience in the medical or pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
 
DUTIES:
Sales and Business Development:
  • Achieve and exceed sales targets.
  • Identify and pursue new sales opportunities, including new clients and markets.
  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to maximize market penetration.
  • Focus sales efforts by studying existing and potential volume of dealers.
  • Performing cost-benefit and needs analysis of existing/potential customers to meet their needs.
  • Submit orders by referring to price lists and product literature.
Client Relationship Management:
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and pharmacists.
  • Provide ongoing support and education to clients.
  • Conduct regular client visits and follow-ups to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
Product Knowledge and Training:
  • Stay updated with the latest product developments and industry trends.
Deliver product presentations and training sessions to healthcare professionals.
  • Attend relevant conferences, workshops, training sessions, review professional publications; establish personal networks; participate in professional societies to enhance product knowledge.
Reporting and Administration:
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and market feedback via CRM.
  • Prepare and submit regular sales reports and forecasts to management.
  • Manage expense reports and ensure adherence to company policies.
  • Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems with the help of relevant department if necessary; developing solutions; preparing reports.
Market Analysis:
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, competitor activities, and customer needs.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to management based on market analysis.
 
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Basic Degree in Sciences or a related field. Sales experience in the medical or pharmaceutical industry is preferred, but not necessary.
 
Required minimum competencies:
Skills:
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to create and deliver presentations tailored to the audience needs
 
Other:
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively within the Western Cape region.
