Manufacturing Production Foreman

ENVIRONMENT:
TAKE charge of the supervision and coordination of Manufacturing staff and processes to ensure production targets are met on time and according to expected quality standards as the next Manufacturing Production Foreman sought by a dynamic Industrial Manufacturing Concern in the Northern Suburbs. You will also be expected to ensure that staff have all their required drawings, jigs and gauges, recommend measures to improve production methods, tend to any machine faults while motivating workers to achieve work goals. You will need Matric/Grade 12 and a Certificate or Training in Production methods in addition, will prove beneficial. You must have 3-5 years’ experience in a Manufacturing environment including having been in a Leadership/Foreman position. Any experience in Sheet Metal industry will be advantageous.
DUTIES:
Production Execution –
- Ensure that all production means are in place so that manufacturing start dates are met.
- Communicate production plan for the entire team for each shift.
- Supervise and instruct Departmental Team Leaders.
- Monitor that each team member is working on his/her assigned work.
- Ensure that staff have all the required drawings, jigs and gauges required for production.
- Monitor production progress to ensure hourly and daily targets are being met.
- If production falls behind report, it to the Production Manager and advise plans for possible methods to achieve missed output.
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Quality of Work –
- Ensure you have the correct materials for the specified job and that they are the correct size.
- Supervision of Manufacturing staff to ensure all SOP’s (route cards, batch control etc) are being followed.
- Ensure that products are being manufactured to specification and alert the Production Manager of any non-conformances.
- Ensure that products are being manufactured to required quality standards through regular quality checks.
- Tend to any machine faults as they arise and report this to the Production Manager.
- Ensure all rejects are recorded and reported.
Record keeping and corrective action –
- Record standard times for each operation.
- Keep counts of actual units produced per operation.
- Work with Team Leaders to implement the company’s policies and goals.
- Ensure that Health and Safety & Housekeeping standards are followed.
- Identify staff training needs.
- Motivate workers to achieve work goals and company culture.
- Mentor staff who are new or struggling to cope and provide basic training.
REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications –
- Matric Certificate / Grade 12.
- Certificate or Training in Production methods (advantageous).
Experience/Skills –
- 3-5 Years’ experience in a Manufacturing environment is essential.
- Previous experience in a Leadership/Foreman position.
- Experience in Sheet Metal industry is highly advantageous.
- Must be willing to work shifts.
