ENVIRONMENT:
YOUR ability to consistently execute projects accurately, whilst providing team leadership as a Lead Electrical Engineer is sought by a provider of cutting-edge Engineering Solutions. Your core role will be to lead a delivery team of Engineers and Modellers that virtually design and construct a wide range of projects. This position will strengthen your passion for Electrical designs (inclusive of some ELV designs) and will see you working with the delivery team to co-create engineering solutions digitally. The successful incumbent must possess a suitable BEng. / BSc. Engineering tertiary qualification with Professional registration e.g., PrEng. You must also have 15 year’s relevant work experience in the Electrical environment, within the built environment (preferably within a Consulting Engineering business), have a strong background in Electrical design (mainly LV) including reticulation design, containment, standby power generation, UPS and lighting designs, experience with Layouts, Schematics, Schedules and Whole System Design and have a strong understanding of local and international codes and standards, including those applicable to South Africa, Middle East, SE Asia and/or Australia.
DUTIES:
- Assume responsibility for management of large-scale projects. This includes cost estimates, tender submissions, technical documentation, project scheduling, meeting deadlines and budgets.
- Assist in managing or manage the work financially, technically and contractually.
- Provide mentoring, guidance and training to less experienced staff.
- Analyse project requirements in the context of various codes and standard and develop conceptual designs through to a set of construction information.
- Coordinate the design and virtual construction of the relevant building services designs.
- Manage and quality check deliverables (incl. modelling works, data/parameter management) carried out by global and multinational dispersed and remote teams.
- Co-ordinate with other disciplines.
- Maintain project records in accordance with internal quality system.
- Challenge the team to remain ahead of the technology curve, regarding technical trends, as well as design execution.
REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications –
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering (B.Eng, B.Sc).
- Professional registration (e.g., PrEng).
Experience/Skills –
- 15 Years of relevant experience in the Electrical environment, within the built environment (preferably within a Consulting Engineering business).
- A strong background in Electrical design (mainly LV) including reticulation design, containment, standby power generation, UPS and lighting designs.
- Layouts, Schematics, Schedules and Whole System Design.
- Have a strong understanding of local and international codes and standards, including those applicable to South Africa, Middle East, SE Asia and/or Australia.
- Proven Management skills in people, financial and project knowledge.
- Have sound record of team management.
- Proven record of commercial Project Management.
Advantageous –
- Fire alarm, Security & Access Control as well as PAVA designs.
- DEWA, ADDC, Karhamaa Authority regulations.
- International project experience (outside Africa).
- Using Revit for Design workflows.
- Software experience in Dialux, Electrical OM.
