IT – Support

ENVIRONMENT:
One of Africa’s leading academic resource suppliers who ensures that all students in the continent have access to essential educational materials, is seeking an IT Technician (all-rounder) to join their Tygervalley based team. The suitable candidate must be in possession of a recognised IT qualification or equivalent. Relevant experience of at least 3 years, and an MCSE, A+, N+ or other certifications would be advantageous.
DUTIES:
- Resolve incidents on-site and remotely.
- Load, Setup and Customize software/hardware and install PC’s, Printers, and peripherals.
- Hardware & Software fault diagnoses and problem solving on PC’s Printers and peripherals.
- Fault diagnosis and problem solving on LAN (Ethernet).
- Load, setup and provide administrative support on All MS Windows platforms.
- Roll out Hardware and Software.
- Participate in IT projects.
- General Back-Office System Administration, including creating new users and various accounts.
- General Desktop Support and Back-Office System Support to head office – and to branch users such as Email support, etc.
- Setting up of PC’s, POS equipment and the support thereof.
- Adhere to internal Administration & Operational processes (Timesheets / SOP updating and creating new).
- Participate as part of a team and individually.
- Available to work after-hours if required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3 Years’ Experience in the IT industry. (Desktop & Server Support)
- Experience in building, fixing and installation of desktops and laptops.
- Knowledge and Implementation of Desktop Hardware, Software (Microsoft Products), ALL MS Windows operating systems including server operating systems.
- Knowledge of Anti-Virus products.
- Peripheral installations and fault diagnosis.
- Knowledge of LAN cabling and topology (Ethernet).
- Solid work experience as a Desktop / Server & LAN field technician.
- Able to handle Administration, Backups, and Scripting.
- An attitude geared towards customer service, problem solving, and the willingness to take on a diverse set of challenges is preferred.
- Previous experience in a retail systems environment is a strong recommendation.
