ENVIRONMENT:
YOUR expert ability to use data to solve business problems and mine to find hidden insights while also identifying micro-economic forecast models is sought by a renowned Financial Services Group. You will provide input into a client centric strategy from an analytical perspective and define business unit analytics methodologies, procedures, standards and models to create business value and to enhance and inform strategic decisions. You will also design and manage complex model development and analytics projects to drive client centricity, greater customer insight and to improve decision making and efficiency. The ideal candidate must possess a Degree in Mathematics/Statistics/Engineering/Econometrics or other relevant discipline, have 10 years Financial Services and Management experience including clients, banking platforms, products and the overall data landscape. You must also understand business requirements and translate it into business solutions using programme logic with the ability to manipulate data using programming techniques.
 
DUTIES:
Analytics & Modelling –
  • Provide input into business strategies through data analysis that proactively improve efficiency, identify risks, save costs and drive innovation.
  • Address business problems and opportunities through robust underlying analytics.
  • Translate business requirements into tangible solutions or models Understand business value of projects/models/processes.
  • Oversee the appropriate extraction and manipulation (or structuring) of data manage project dependencies.
  • Ensure the documentation and auditing of models, projects and processes.
  • Translate technical information to practical business information.
  • Serve as SME for analytics and have a thorough understanding of the operations of the business product or service.
  • Maintain ownership and oversee the implementation of models. This includes investigating data visualisation and summarisation techniques for conveying key data.
  • Monitor output and accuracy of models.
  • Participate in data architecture and engineering decision-making to support downstream analytics.
  • Develop and apply statistical models to collect, organise and summarise data to enable insights/ trends for business stakeholders.
  • Perform ad hoc exploratory statistics and data mining tasks on diverse datasets from small scale to Big Data.
  • Enable best practice capabilities around data analytics to enable knowledge sharing across the stakeholder community.
  • Provide users with collaboration analytic tools to enable business insights and timeous problem solving.
 
Customer behaviour and context –
  • Examine internal and external data sets to understand client patterns of behaviour, client relationships and client interactions.
  • Provide a framework or set of guiding principles within which decisions about customer context can be made.
  • Guide the division of the market into meaningful and measurable segments according to needs, networks and behaviours.
 
Innovation –
  • Develop new insights into situations and apply innovative solutions to make organisational improvements.
  • Demonstrate innovation by finding the best fit solution for the situation such as the flexibility of delivery and customised solutions which result in more efficient outcomes. Recommend and positively influence, direct and implement changes to optimise organisational processes, systems, policies and procedures.
  • Increase operational efficiency and suggest solutions to enhance cost effectiveness.

  • Understand and appropriately apply procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialised expertise.
  • Investigate, analyse and develop organisational best practices, ensuring and encouraging adherence to an operational framework of policies and procedures.
  • Provide a sustainable method of accessing client behavioural and interaction data to stakeholders.
  • Participate in specialist communities of practice and contribute positively to own and organisational knowledge improvement.
 
Relationship Management –
  • Build and maintain relationships across a wide set of stakeholders for the purposes of reciprocally managing expectations, sharing knowledge and diverse insights, and creating buy-in.
  • Engage in cross-functional relationships in order to obtain and to provide work support.
  • Contribute to sustaining a competitive edge through external networking, benchmarking and representation on related forums.
 
Self and Staff Development –
  • Identify training/development needs and pro-actively identify effective solutions to address own and employee development gaps.
  • Ensure that each employee prepares a personal development plan, review these plans and ensure implementation.

  • Plan training interventions which support Group strategies. Understand which competencies and skills are required to be mastered to ensure personal and employee development and performance.

REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications –
  • Relevant Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Econometrics, Physics, Actuarial Science or related field.
 
Experience/Skills –
  • Minimum 10 years Financial Services and Management experience.
  • Experience of client, banking platforms, products and overall data landscape.
  • Advanced analytical and model building skills.
  • Able to use data to solve business problems, able to mine to find hidden insights.
  • Ability to identify micro-economic forecast models (statistical, behavioural, financial, forecasting).
  • Programming skills: Ability to understand business requirements and translate it into business solutions using programme logic. Able to manipulate data using programme techniques.
