ENVIRONMENT:
The technical expertise of a self-driven AWS Cloud Engineer with a proven track record of successful IT project delivery is sought by a UK-based Consultancy and Software Solutions Provider. Your role will entail system troubleshooting, problem resolution, ensuring the scalability of cloud-based production systems and leading cloud solution rollout projects. You must possess an AWS or Azure Associate/Professional-level Certification, have 3+ years’ hands-on experience provisioning, operating, and managing AWS environments & 5+ years System Administration experience in Linux- or Windows-based server environments being comfortable working to tight deadlines and demanding SLAs. You will also require experience and proficiency with Active Directory, DNS, WINS, DHCP, IIS SQL Server, PowerShell, RHEL/CentOS, Postgres, Apache/Nginx. As you will be engaging with UK clients, you must have strong English business communication skills.
 
DUTIES:
 
  • System troubleshooting and problem resolution across various applications and platforms.
  • Deployment, automation, management, and maintenance of AWS-based production systems.
  • Ensure availability, performance, security, and scalability of AWS-based production systems.
  • Design, maintain and manage tools for automation of different operational processes.
  • Provide recommendations for architecture and process improvements.
  • Evaluation of new technology alternatives and vendor products.
  • Lead and work as part of cloud solution rollout projects.
 
REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications –
• AWS or Azure Associate/Professional-level Certification.
 
Experience/Skills –
  • 3+ Years’ hands-on experience provisioning, operating, and managing AWS environments.
  • 5+ Years of System Administration experience in Linux- or Windows-based server environments.
  • Comfortable working to tight deadlines and demanding SLAs.
  • Proven expertise in IT project delivery.
  • Show a track record of completing tasks and projects on time and at high quality.
  • Provide out-of-hours cover infrequently.
 
Technical Expertise:
Cloud Infrastructure –
  • Architect, build and operate cloud infrastructure platforms.
  • Proficient with AWS services: Compute and Network, Storage and CDN, Database, Analytics, Deployment, and Management.
  • Experience with multi-tier architectures: load balancers, caching, web servers, application servers, databases, and networking.
 
Windows –
  • Administration of Windows Server OS.
  • Active Directory infrastructure design (including DNS, WINS, DHCP, Group policies).
  • PowerShell and other scripting for advanced support, maintenance and automation.
  • Support WAMP environments (including IIS, SQL Server).
 
Linux –
  • Administration of Ubuntu/Debian or derivatives.
  • Administration of RHEL/CentOS or derivatives.
  • Support of LAMP environments (including MySQL, Postgres, Apache/Nginx).
 
Whilst a degree is not mandatory, it is required candidates to be AWS Certified to at least Associate or
Professional level. In addition, one or more of the following would be highly advantageous:
  • Degree or Diploma in Computer Technology
  • Microsoft Azure Administrator (or similar)
  • MCSA or MCSE or MCITP
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or Advanced Professional (VCAP)
  • Storage-related certification
  • LPIC (Linux Professional Institute Certification)
  • Oracle Certified Associate / Professional
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
