A leading retail giant seeks a self-starter with a unique knack for debugging complex issues to be their next Site Reliability Engineer / DevOps Engineer who will join the Cloud Services team. Your core role will be to improve the reliability, robustness and scalability of cloud services and ensure exceptional solutions. You require Matric/Grade 12, a 3-Year Degree/Diploma in Information Systems/Computer Science or similar, at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role, AWS Associate Level (SA, Developer, etc.), Cloud Technologies – especially AWS, DevOPS toolset, preferably Atlassian; 3 years’ Ansible, Terraform, Chef or Puppet; 5 years’ AWS experience (S3, cloudformation scripts, Lamda’s, SES, SQS and step functions), JSON, YAML & Git.
Play an active role in optimizing service lifecycle, including design, deployment, monitoring, general operations.
Participate in incident response and on-call rotation wherein you will triage, take on problems, and provide post-mortems on production issues.
Develop and operate solutions necessary to support and improve cloud operations. E.g. monitoring and logging solutions or stress-test frameworks.
Improve the reliability, robustness, and scalability of our cloud services.
Provide support for application issues, as well as various operational tasks such as management and deployment of the application.
Work closely with Dev team to gain in-depth knowledge to learn about how each application works in terms of business logic, security aspects, deployment environments and the relevant software processes involved. There are opportunities to do programming to help automate application setup/config, monitor, deployment and sanity testing.
Understand the evolving business environment to help establish service metrics that meet the needs of our customers
Collaborate with other Software and Hardware Engineering teams to identify, deliver and implement system features that serve the mission of the team.
Manage and support DevOPs toolset including Jira, Confluence, Jenkins and Bitbucket.
3-Year Diploma/Degree in Information Systems / Computer Science or similar.
At least 3 years relevant experience.
AWS Associate level (SA, Developer, etc).
1-2 Years –
Cloud Technologies – especially AWS.
DevOPS toolset, preferably Atlassian.
3 + Years Orchestration and automation tools. i.e. Ansible, Terraform, Chef or Puppet.
5+ Years –
AWS experience (S3, cloudformation scripts, Lamda’s, SES, SQS and step functions).
Distributed source control systems, like GIT.
Human-readable data serialization language – JSON and YAML.
AWS Professional (SA, DevOPS).
