A results-driven and highly meticulous Data Analyst is sought by an innovative financial services platform to help inform decisions by providing expertise in acquiring, managing, manipulating and analysing the results of data and reports. The ideal candidate should possess a BCom/BSc in Business/Statistics/Operations Research/Quantitative Management/Applied Maths or related analytical degree, completed courses on data profiling and data quality management & have technical knowledge of data mining, data models and database design. You should also have SQL skill. Any exposure to R/Python & experience in the retail sector will be beneficial.
Data Extraction –
Define data requirements that would meet the specific needs of a defined business problem.
Draw and combine data from various sources and do analysis on information retrieved.
Report on information retrieved and analysed, providing deeper insight into business problem and solutions.
Use modelling techniques and tools in analysing and specifying data structures in large and/or complex data sets.
Translate, merge, clean up and/or map data into conceptual, logical and physical data models.
Familiarity with basic statistical methods such as linear regression, and visualisation methods such as scatter plots, time course plots/analysis and the use of percentiles for descriptive analysis.
Strong in applied analytics using empirical data to support decision recommendations.
All activities related to data cleansing, data quality and data consolidation using industry standards and processes.
Data and Analytical Presentation –
Data presentation designed to demonstrate conclusions gained from analysing data.
Research and offer suggestions pro-actively on data and end-result presentation.
Develop graphs, reports, and presentations of project results.
Perform basic statistical analyses for projects and reports.
Create and present quality dashboards.
Generate routine and ad hoc report.
Data and Analytical Recommendations –
Provide real insight into business questions with pro-active recommendations on decisions and future analytical projects.
Deliver analytical insights to a bigger audience with the intention of driving strategy.
Document, implement, maintain or recommend operating methods to improve data processing, distribution, data flow, collection and database procedures.
Define future data migration requirements, gathering, validating and documenting data requirements.
Identify, develop, and document data standardisation, data enrichment operations, data validations, data security requirements, and data exception handling processes.
BCom/BSc in Business, Statistics, Operations Research, Quantitative Management, Applied Maths or related analytical field.
Course(s) on data profiling and data quality management.
Knowledge of statistics.
Experience in data mining techniques and procedures and knowing when their use is appropriate.
Ability to present complex information in an understandable and compelling manner.
Technical expertise regarding data models and database design development.
Understand SQL or similar programmes.
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Programming skills: Adept at queries and report writing.
Using statistical packages is desirable for analysing large datasets.
Experience in the retail sector.
A self-driven team player.
Excellent problem assessment, decision making, communication and interpersonal skills.
