A dynamic and successful managed service and cloud solutions provider in Cape Town are looking for a Backup and Archive Administrator to be responsible for providing our customers with high level support. As a Backup and Archive Administrator you’ll provide the first point of contact for all customer issues and requests, dealing with new backup requests, fault finding failures, restoring data and modifying policies. This role forms part of a 24/7/365 team and involves shift work, with bonuses paid for each evening and weekend covered. The current shift Rota includes one week off in every four.
Monitor customer backups via email alerting, the NetBackup administration console, Evault portal, Datto portal and Aptare console.
Ensure all backup failures are logged on our ITSM system, and the customer informed.
Investigate, progress and resolve backup failures.
Investigate, progress and resolve Enterprise Vault archive incidents and failures.
Escalate to and interface with 2nd line and vendor support as required.
Make additions, changes and removals to backup policies as per customer requirements.
Make additions, changes and removals to email and file system archiving policies as per customer requirements.
Make recommendations on backup and archive best practice.
Perform data restores for customers.
Perform remote tape changes via NetBackup in conjunction with the customer or our third-party tape management partner.
Fault find incidents on servers (Linux and Windows), tape libraries and storage arrays.
Perform Linux and Windows server installation, upgrades and patching.
Install, upgrade and patch NetBackup.

Relevant Qualification related to IT.
Must work shifts. This role is shift based, and personnel are required to work days (7am to 7pm), nights (7pm to 7am) or weekends (weekends being 7pm Friday through to 7am Monday, plus any public holidays). 4 days of work then weekend with 1 week off per month.
Should have knowledge on the following technologies:
Operating Systems: Windows Server 2003 onwards, Linux, Mac OS, Solaris
Databases: Microsoft SQL, MySQL, Oracle
Applications: SharePoint, Active Directory, Exchange
VMWare, vCentre, vSphere, Hyper-V
